the Non-Mortal Disruption

When you are touched by a lightsaber blade, you are required to disrupt your movement as though you have been non-mortally wounded.

This means that if you were going to get some sick kill shot on your opponent, you must forgo your intended strike by freezing mid-attack. To do otherwise shows lack of concern for your opponent and an un-controled ego.

The reason this is so important is that when we speed up the game, there will be less and less time to react in a safe manner. Therefore, we need the mental cue to stop when we feel contact to be ingrained on a very deep level.

This will enable challengers to try more risky maneuvers because they know that if they get to you first, it’s over. If, however, the opponent disregards the strike and follows through with the blow, there is no trust. What if the person is new and is still learning to control their force? If that strike follows through the result would be painful. It’s for this reason that we must emphasize the non-mortal disruption from the very beginning of a members education.

The rule is simple,

If you are tagged by a lightsaber, disrupt your movement

(and if you’re smart, back out of there, because the game is still in play!)

Think about it!
